Description
The test measures the levels of bile acids in the blood. This test is used to assess liver function and detect liver-related disorders like cholestasis, where bile flow is obstructed, or cirrhosis, a condition that affects the liver’s ability to process bile acids properly. It is also useful in monitoring intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP), a condition in which bile flow is impaired, posing risks to both mother and the baby.
