Description
This is a prenatal screening test that measures the levels of Pregnancy-Associated Plasma Protein-A (PAPP-A) – a protein produced by the placenta during pregnancy. It is typically performed in the first trimester to assess the risk of chromosomal abnormalities such as Down syndrome (Trisomy 21) and Edwards syndrome (Trisomy 18). Abnormal PAPP-A levels indicate potential complications like preeclampsia or restricted fetal growth.
