Pleural fluid cytology

Description

This test examines pleural fluid from the cavity surrounding the lungs to detect cancer cells and other signs of disease. This test is performed on excess accumulation of pleural fluid, known as pleural effusion caused by infections, inflammatory diseases, lung cancer and mesothelioma.
