Description
The test measures the level of lactate dehydrogenase, an enzyme found in almost all of the body’s tissues. Normally, LDH levels in the bloodstream are low, but they can increase when there is tissue damage or disease. This test detects conditions that cause cell damage or tissue breakdown, such as heart disease, liver disease, certain cancers, muscle injury and infections.
