Description
IHC-TFE3, or immunohistochemistry for TFE3 protein, is a lab test used to detect the presence of the TFE3 protein in tissue samples. It’s often employed in the diagnosis of certain cancers, particularly those involving TFE3 gene rearrangements like alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) and Xp11 translocation renal cell carcinoma (Xp11-RCC). While IHC-TFE3 can be a helpful tool, it’s important to note that its sensitivity and specificity can vary, and it’s not always a definitive diagnostic method, especially for TFE3 rearrangements.
