Description
The HLA-B27 test is a blood test that checks for the presence of the HLA-B27 protein on the surface of white blood cells. This protein is part of the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system, which helps the immune system distinguish between the body’s cells and foreign particles. The test helps detect autoimmune disorders like juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, reactive arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, anterior uveitis, ankylosing spondylitis, and Reiter’s disease. It also helps monitor the disease progression.
