Description
FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) analysis can be used to determine the presence or absence of the SRY gene, which is crucial in determining sex determination in cases of XY females or XX males. In XY females, SRY is absent, leading to female development despite the presence of the Y chromosome. Conversely, in XX males, SRY is present, often translocated to the X chromosome, leading to male development despite the absence of the Y chromosome.
