Description
Beta HCG test is done to confirm pregnancy. It is secreted throughout the first trimester and its production decreases through the second and third trimester. It’s also instrumental to ascertain the approximate age of the fetus, diagnose miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, etc. It is also used as a tumour marker for the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma and ovarian and testicular tumours.
