Ascitic fluid analysis with AFB and ADA

The test evaluates ascitic fluid accumulating in the abdominal cavity for the presence of tuberculosis (TB) and assess the underlying cause of ascites. This combined analysis includes testing for acid-fast bacilli (AFB) – the bacteria responsible for TB and measuring the level of adenosine deaminase (ADA), an enzyme associated with TB infection.
