Description
Synovial sarcoma is a type of cancer characterized by a specific genetic abnormality: the t(X;18)(p11.2;q11.2) translocation. This translocation involves the fusion of the SS18 gene (also known as SYT) on chromosome 18 with either the SSX1, SSX2, or SSX4 gene on chromosome X. This fusion results in the formation of an abnormal protein that contributes to the development of synovial sarcoma
