Pleural fluid analysis with AFB

The test evaluates pleural fluid found surrounding the lungs for the presence of acid-fast bacilli (AFB) – bacteria responsible for tuberculosis. This test confirms the diagnosis of tuberculosis in patients with pleural effusion, particularly in those lacking other signs of active TB.
