Description
Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is a molecular cytogenetic technique used to detect low-grade mosaicism, particularly in blood samples, by identifying specific chromosomal abnormalities. It is more sensitive and specific than traditional karyotyping, especially for detecting mosaicism in interphase cells. FISH analysis, especially when combined with other methods like karyotyping and array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH), can provide a comprehensive assessment of chromosomal mosaicism.
