Description
FISH, or fluorescence in situ hybridization, can be used to detect deletions of the MYB gene region (located at 6q23) or deletions of the long arm of chromosome 6 (6q) in various cancers and lymphoproliferative disorders. FISH is particularly useful for identifying these deletions because it can detect changes not visible under a microscope and can be used on both dividing and non-dividing cells.
