Description
This test measures the levels of adenosine deaminase enzyme in various body fluids, such as pleural, peritoneal or cerebrospinal fluid. This test diagnoses tuberculosis (TB)-related infections in the fluid spaces, such as tuberculous pleuritis or peritonitis. Elevated ADA levels in the fluid indicate TB infection and distinguish it from other causes of fluid accumulation, such as malignancies or non-tuberculous infections.
